Race for Education is our largest fundraiser of the year, and we get the entire student body involved! Students and staff raise money and on May 3, 2024, they will run or walk laps on the soccer field. Runners with the most laps are recognized and prizes are awarded to the individuals and the classroom that raise the most money. There are individual prizes too!

It has always been our desire to make Christian education accessible to as many children as possible in our community. Each year, Race for Education helps to make this possible. Money raised through RFE goes toward tuition discounts. Whether it be multi-child, military, pastoral, etc, over 70% of CVCS families benefit from these tuition discounts.

The biggest difference this year is the fundraising system and how we are tracking student participation. 

This year we are using PledgeStar, a user-friendly web-based system. There are a lot of benefits for you as a parent, including:

• PledgeStar App
• Online Address Book Integration
• Ability to send & track emails AND text messages
• Automated Thank You notes
• A combined family page (donors receive one request for the family instead of multiple for each child)
• Option for companies to match donations

Another big change is that you will not receive a link to your child's giving page - this year you will need to register each of your students. Don't worry, it's a super easy process. Follow the instructions here: https://pledgestar.com/cumberlandvalley/a/familyinstructions.html 

It is super easy to register each of your children, following the instructions below:

Using your computer's browser:

• Go to http://pledgestar.com/cumberlandvalley
• Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
• Enter your name and email address, then click “Submit”
• Follow the instructions on-screen to register your child as a Runner. You can continue adding Runners until you’ve registered all of your children who attend CVCS
• Add Family & Friends to send emails and/or texts
   

Using your Android or Apple phone or tablet:

• Go to the Apple App Store on IOS or the Amazon App Store on Android and search for "PledgeStar" to download the Family App, or go to https://pledgestar.com/cumberlandvalley/downloadapp.html
• On the home screen enter your event code: “cumberlandvalley” to locate your event
• Click “Not Registered For This Year’s Event”
• Enter your name and email address, then click “Submit”
• Follow the instructions on-screen to register your child as a Runner. You can continue adding Runners until you’ve registered all of your children who attend CVCS
• Add Family & Friends to send emails and/or texts
   

When you finish, the system emails pledge requests to your family and friends, and allows them to make secure credit card donations online. You get notified each time a pledge is made, and you can track your pledge progress online.

After you register your child(ren), click “Add Family & Friends” to send texts or emails. (If you text and email the same person, it only counts as one request) PledgeStar will track how many requests you have sent. Click “Share on Social Media and Other Ways” to share online. After you share on social media, email tmiller@cvcsblazers.com to let us know as PledgeStar does not track social media sharing.
